FAQS

Who is my guide?

All our guides are fully accredited and qualified Blue Badge Guides. The Blue Badge course is an intensive 2 year course and the highest qualification in UK tourism. Most importantly, our guides are hand picked as the most interesting, personable and inspiring experts in the UK. We have carefully selected a team that aside from general touring, all have an interest or passion that they guide on. The categories vary but include: art, history, archeology, theology, cuisine, antiquities, architecture, politics, tours for children and the monarchy.

How long do the tours last?

Our walking tours typically last 3 hrs and start at either 10am or 2pm. Certain advertised tours are slightly longer and last up to 4hrs and start at either 9am or 2pm, all information is listed on our tour page.

How are your tours different?

Our tours are completely private to your party with a maximum number of 6 people. Aside from our exceptional tour guides who will inspire your party and satisfy your specific curiosities, the rhythm, vibrancy and range and depth of our tours are second to none.

Where do your tours start and end?

Our tours start in given locations in zone 1, central London. Each tour has a different meeting location but they are generally near a well known station, venue or landmark. Your start point will be communicated to you on your booking confirmation email. Your nominated tour guide will have your telephone number to reach you.

Can I tour on Sundays and Bank holidays?

Yes. Most of the famous and admired sights in London are open on Sunday with the exception of some places of worships such as St Paul’s Cathedral and Westminster Abbey which hold Sunday services for their congregations.

The City of London, (Our financial district), is a great deal less busy than weekdays so the opportunity to explore is much more peaceful. The ever bustling West End is always busy with shopping districts generally opening from 12pm.

The above mentioned details are applicable to Bank Holidays but as the name suggests, Banks are shut as too are many commercial businesses. Most shops and nearly all attractions are open.

What are you doing to ensure safety in light of the Coronavirus / COVID-19 situation?

Please refer to our COVID-19 protocol which can be found in our Terms and Conditions from this link

Can tours be extended?

Yes but we would require as much notice as possible, ideally seven days. It is highly unlikely that tours can be extended on the actual day of your tour.

What happens if it rains?

The British weather is unpredictable at best and we highly recommend bringing an umbrella with you and keeping up to date on the weather forecast for your particular tour date. We also recommend using sun protection creams etc during the summer months. Rest assured, come rain or shine our expert guides will ensure you have an amazing time during our tours.

Do I need travel insurance?

We highly recommend that you take out adequate travel insurance to cover your time in the UK and to cover the cost of services provided by Design Your Tours Ltd.

What is your cancellation policy?

Please refer to our Terms and Conditions

What is your policy on privacy and data protection?

Please refer to our privacy document

Can I share a tour with another group?

Unfortunately not. All our tours are private and dedicated to individual groups.

Are your tours wheelchair friendly?

All our tour experiences are designed to be walked so wheelchairs can be used. It is important to note that on the pub tours, not all the pubs have wheelchair accessibility but we can arrange alternative pubs should a member of your party require a wheelchair.
